Country Thunder 2016 is Coming Soon!

There’s only one way to really get prepared for a four-day party like this, and that’s by learning how to Country dance!

If you haven’t started taking dance lessons yet, now’s the time. With less than two months to go, it’s not too late to look great on that dance floor.

“Which dances will I learn?,” you may be wondering. Great question! You will definitely need to know how to Two Step. There are several versions of the Two Step, so it would be good to explore a few styles. That way you can fit in anywhere.

Country Swing dancing is also very hot right now. Once you know how to Swing dance, all those fast songs will be easy to dance along with! There’s a ton of Country Swing dance moves, spins and dips that are a blast to know, so we can’t leave this popular dance behind.

There are many more Country dances, from the Waltz to West Coast (another Swing dance style), but I would say that if you know how to Two Step dance and Country Swing dance, your bases will be covered for Country Thunder.

Couple’s Country Dance Classes and More!

Salsa Dance Class in ArizonaAre you ready for a new and exciting hobby in 2015? Then come join in the fun with us at Dance FX Studios in Mesa, Arizona! As one of Arizona’s leading dance studios for the past decade, we are going to assist you in becoming a confident social dancer this year. In our new Group Dance Classes for couples, you will learn cool and popular social dances including the Country Two Step, Salsa and Country Swing.

Your wallflower days are coming to an end as you take your first steps onto the dance floor. The only question to ask yourself before you begin is “Which dance should I learn first?”. That’s a tough one. If you see yourself in the favored Country bars these days with friends or even a date, then we suggest that you kick off your dancing journey with the trendy Country Two Step. The Country Two Step is medium tempo, not too fast and not too slow, so it’s perfect for beginners who are getting their dancing feet wet! What’s also wonderful about the Country Two Step is that there are several styling variations of it, so you will never get bored, or bore your partner with the basics. The Country Two Step also has lots of impressive moves that will surely sweep any Cowgirl off of her feet. The Country Two Step class for beginners is every Monday at 7 pm, starting on the first week of each month and lasting for 4 weeks total.

Then there’s the Salsa. What an awesome dance to explore! Salsa dancing is always useful as there is an abundance of Latin influence here in the southwest. What’s amazing and intriguing about Latin dancing in general is the passion and freedom that comes from exploring sensual dances like the Salsa, Bachata and Merengue. Salsa dancing includes lots of sass and playfulness with all of that hip shaking. Be prepared to have fun learning lots of turns and cool dance moves in our Salsa Group Dance Classes. Dance FX Studios’ 4-Week Salsa dance class for beginners is held each Tuesday at 7 pm, re-opening on the first week of each month for new couples.

Finally, if you love Country music, you have got to learn to Country Swing dance! The Country Swing is fast, furious and tons of fun! In this most popular dance, you will learn various turns and spins that will make you one to watch on the dance floor. Country Swing is useful and lively and is one dance that you don’t want to pass up this year. Remember Country music lovers, Country Thunder is coming up in the next few months, so now is the time to throw on those boots and learn to dance. Our Country Swing dance classes for beginners are held on Wednesdays at 7 pm, beginning anew at the first of each month.

Country dancing in ArizonaCountry dancing-it’s HUGE here in Arizona, and has been for a few years now! From the Country Swing to the Two Step, Waltz, Line Dancing and Nite Club slow dance, Country dancing in Arizona is here to stay. And why shouldn’t it stick around for a while? We’ve got the Cowboys (and Cowgirls). We’ve got amazing Country bars and great Country bands in almost every major city of Phoenix. The only thing most Arizonans need to learn now is how to Country dance so everyone can enjoy the dance floor safely and have a blast Two Stepping into the night.

Sitting on the sidelines can one day be a thing of the past with Country dance lessons.  Most everyone who goes to Country bars wants to join in the fun, but many simply haven’t been taught well enough to get out there with confidence. Here’s what you need to know about Country dancing in Arizona.

1. You can’t learn to dance just by watching someone else. While many people are visual learners, there is a lot to knowing how to Country dance well. For instance, how to lead and follow (communicate the moves that you want her to do), how to stay within a reasonable amount of space to be mindful of others, and, the biggie, how to dance on time with the music (we’ll get to that one in a second). Partner dancing is a skill that does not revolve around memorizing steps and patterns. Guys and gals… get a few Country dance lessons under your belt, even if they are semi-private dance lessons to keep the cost down, so that you can learn great dancing tips on how to be successful in the bars. The fun tricks seem cool at the time with a few drinks in your system, but at the end of the day, they are not safe or respectful of others out socially.

2. There IS a way to stay on time with Country music. Knowing which dance to do to which rhythm is critical. Each dance has a particular count to it that, if adhered to, makes you a dancer that can move to the the music, rather than being all over the place and off beat. County Swing is a bit faster than Country Two Step, for example, so knowing when to apply each dance to the songs that are being played are an essential part of the process of learning to dance.

3. Versatility is key. Avoid being a “one-trick pony” by doing the same dance steps to the same tempo to every song. With Country dance lessons, you can learn some cool moves to use when the music quiets and different ones to use when it builds. Having an arsenal of moves in your tool belt makes you a versatile and unpredictable dancer. If you couple that with a great lead, guys, you will be very much in demand. wink.

With the new year approaching, there are so many reasons to dance! Being that we live in Arizona, Country  is one of those popular dance styles that YOU need to know in the upcoming year. Let’s take a  look at why Country dancing is a must-have in 2013 for everyone…

Country dancing is FUN and EASY!: Who doesn’t want to venture into something that you KNOW you will be able to learn and use in a very short amount of time?! Country dancing, including the Two Step, Swing and Waltz are both exciting AND cool to know! Since there are no sexy hips to master like in Latin dancing, anyone can get out on to a Country dance floor and enjoy the basics with just a few private dance lessons under their belt.

Country and Latin Group Dance Classes

As 2012 comes to a close, Dance FX Studios is offering one final round of  4-week group dance courses to get you ready for upcoming holiday parties, nights out on the town and date nights with your special someone. Group dance classes are also a great way to meet friends and make connections while sharing in the same new hobby, dance! The two classes being offering between November 27th and December 20th, 2012 are the Salsa and Bachata Latin class and Two Step and Swing Country dance class.

Dance FX Studios’ Latin class will be held on Tuesdays at 7-8 pm for 4 consecutive weeks beginning on Tuesday, November 27th. This class will include the Salsa and Bachata each hour as you build on fun and useful new moves from week to week. Our Country dance class will include both the Two Step and the Swing and will be held on Thursdays from 7-8 pm beginning on November 29th, 2012.

Both the Country and Latin dance classes are open to couples and singles with NO dance experience. With our unique style of instruction, you will learn key tips in each dance to make you comfortable on any social dance floor within a short time. Even those dancers who have learned more than the basics will benefit from dance  classes at Dance FX Studios so that they can gain a better understanding of what most classes at other places don’t offer; lead and follow, how to hold a proper dance frame, etc..

In our remaining 4-week class of 2012, we WILL be rotating dance partners to give everyone a chance to experience leading and following a variety of partners. Starting in 2013, our NEW 4-week group dance classes will be divided up between couples and singles. In our single’s classes, we will continue to rotate partners to gain the social benefits of dance classes for adults as well as the leading/following benefits. Our couple’s dance class will include couples staying with the partner that they signed up with for the 4-week dance class.

Dance FX Studios’ final Latin and Country dance classes for 2012 are open to both couples and singles. Singles pay $50 for all 4 weeks of classes while couples receive a discount for signing up as a pair. Couples pay just $75 for all 4 weeks total.
