Top Three Dance Styles for Your First Dance in Arizona

rsz_1rsz_dsc06070So you and your partner have decided to tie the knot. Congratulations! We know how hard it can be to put together a wedding, no matter how much time you have before the big day.  We want to help take away some of your wedding stress by creating a first dance custom fit for your personalities, style and wedding theme. At Dance FX Studios in Mesa, Arizona, we want work with you to create a beautiful  wedding routine that looks exactly how you imagined. If your big day is going to be shabby chic themed, a rustic Country Wedding Dance may be just what you’re wanting. Or maybe you are going to be the belle of the ball. We can choreograph a fairy tale first dance that takes everyone’s breath away.

For those of you Arizona brides and grooms who don’t like to do things too extravagantly, our Sweet and Simple first dances are perfect for you.  Once you and your fiancé pick out the song you would like your first dance be danced to, you can decide if this is the style that best suits what you imagined. Although we don’t like to choreograph wedding dances that consist of just swaying back and forth, we can definitely put first dance together for you that is easy and elegant, without compromising how it looks.

Let’s say you and your partner are a spunky and fun type of couple. The best thing we think you can do is shock your guests with what we call a Rock Your Reception Wedding Dance! You two can start off doing a slow swaying dance to a stereotypical wedding song. Everyone in the audience will head to the open bar while checking their phones, but wait! When they are least expecting it, you bust out into a fast and upbeat Swing or Salsa dance and knock their socks off!  You can really show off, and best of all, your friends and family will be talking about your first dance for months to come!

For a Cinderella first dance that will have him sweeping you off of your feet,  a traditional and classic wedding dance routine will fit you perfectly. You probably already have your song picked out, and we can bring that song to life and give your guests a memory to treasure forever.

Our incredible dance instructors are trained to customize your wedding routine to fit you and your spouse perfectly. Once you come in for your Wedding Dance Consultation, you will see how we can create a dance that is exactly how you imagined as a little girl. All the stress from planning your wedding will fall off your shoulders when the two of you are dancing together.

It doesn’t matter which style you choose. You can even mix any of the above together. The point is that you have an experience that will leave you smiling for years to come. We at Dance FX Studios can assure you of that when you come to us for Wedding Dance Lessons.

What to Wear for Your First Dance on Your Wedding Day

rsz_1rsz_dsc06105As your much anticipated wedding day is coming up, you are probably wondering what you should wear for your first dance as a married couple. Should you wear your wedding dress, or change into your reception dress? What about the groom? Will he want to dance with his jacket on or off? These can seem like small things to think about, but with proper planning, you can look and feel quite comfortable on your big day with the right attire.

We at Dance FX Studios in Mesa, Arizona have helped thousands of brides over the last two decades to shine on the dance floor, and we are happy to advise you on how to look and feel your best!

Ladies… If you are wearing a wedding dress that is form fitted, such as a mermaid or a trumpet style dress, we suggest that you consider a second dress to wear during your reception party, at least for your first dance. Not only will a flowy dress free you up for your first dance, it will also ensure you are comfortable for the rest of the night. If you have a long train and don’t plan on changing into a separate dress, bustling your dress is a great idea so that you don’t trip on the dance floor. You also won’t want your train dragging around with the danger of your partner slipping while you are dancing together. When you begin your Wedding Dance Lessons with us, you will want to wear comfortable clothing until we get closer to the actual wedding date. Then we ask that you bring in an outfit that is something similar to what you will be wearing on your actual day. That way you practice with a large skirt on, to fitted jacket on to get used to the feeling of dancing in similar clothing.

Guys…We will help you to discover whether or not you should dance with your jacket on. When you are wearing something as restricting as a tux or suit jacket, you may have a hard time turning wife comfortably. Both of you will want you to be able to show her off and make her look as graceful as possible on the most important dance of your lives.

For the bride and groom…Please wear shoes that are comfortable. Even if this means you have to change before and after your dance into a different shoe, we definitely recommend that you do! Your feet will be regretting it the next day if you don’t. Ladies, do not wear a sky high stiletto for your first dance. Sure, it looks great but they are nearly impossible to dance in without looking ridiculous, or worse, tripping and getting hurt. We recommend that you do not wear a heel that is more than 3 inches tall for dancing. It’s honestly a better idea to wear a short heel for the entire reception, especially if you have an open bar. Guys, we think it’s a great idea to invest in a dance shoe for your special night. You will use your dance skills with your wife far beyond just your wedding night so splurging on a comfortable dance shoe is a great idea.

If you haven’t started planning your wedding dance, give us a call at Dance FX Studios and set up a Wedding Dance Consultation so we can customize the first dance of your dreams. Don’t worry about the small details we talked about today. Once you come in, our instructors will go over everything you need to know again for both of you to look and feel great on your wedding day!

Making Your Wedding Day Special With A Customized First Dance

rsz_1rsz_dsc05409So your soulmate recently got down on one knee and popped the question. Of course you say YES! as you cry tears of joy, but now you have a lot to think about when it comes to planning your wedding. Whether your wedding is three months from now or two years from now, you will need a unique and memorable first dance as a married couple, no doubt. Here at Dance FX Studios in the Phoenix East Valley, we can help relieve some of your wedding day stress with Wedding Dance Lessons. We teach many different styles to our brides and grooms, but here are some of our favorites.

If you’re a southern lady, or gentleman, then you may be more drawn to a Country themed Wedding Dance. We love Country Dancing for wedding couples as Country dancing has been trendy for several years now. If you want something fun and upbeat, then Country Swing may be just the dance for you! The Country Swing is fun and exciting as a dance, and will surely get your friends and family on their feet for you! In your Wedding Dance Consultation with us at Dance FX Studios, you can even try out the basics of  Country Swing dancing to see if it suits you. Country Two Step dancing for your wedding dance would be another great option if you want something a little slower, but still crowd pleasing.  Whichever Country dance you choose for your first dance, you’re going to want to change into your Cowboy boots beforehand to get into character for your special dance. 🙂

If you’re looking for something more traditional and romantic, we can also teach you to Waltz or learn another slow dance called the Nite Club Two Step. Your first dance will look classy, and you will still have a great time doing it. A lot of couples lean towards doing these types of dances because they are sweet and simple dances for your wedding. Most importantly, you get to enjoy each other and stare into each other’s eyes as husband and wife for the first time. Both the Waltz and the Nite Club Two Step are great if you are having a traditional wedding on your special day.

If your personality is a little more “out there” then we know that an unexpected dance that includes your bridesmaids and groomsmen is a cool surprise for your guests. Add a surprise element can really liven things up a bit at your wedding by having your best girlfriends and buddies learn a choreographed dance together. What a great way to create more memories with your friends! You could do something creative like a flash mob that is pre-planned and perfectly executed, with Wedding Dance Lessons, of course. These surprise routines have becoming very popular and are even trending on the internet. Who knows, maybe you and your wedding party will become YouTube famous! It really shocks your audience and will have them doubled over in laughter (in a GOOD way) while they watch you, your new husband and your wedding party do the moon walk, Hip Hop dancing, or whatever you can think up. We love a new challenge!

Let us help you choose a one-of-a-kind wedding dance that is customized for you. The team at Dance FX Studios in Mesa, AZ can plan out your dream wedding dance to give you a wedding to remember.

Wedding Dance Lessons for Arizona Brides and Grooms

wedding dance lessons in ArizonaIs your wedding just months away? Then now is the time to begin spending time on the best part of your big day: your first dance! Now, it may seem daunting when you think of “performing” in front of grandma, your boss and even your best buddies, but imagine how much more excited your guests will be when you WOW them with a special dance that is NOT the 8th grade prom sway. No one could have expected that you would actually take the time to learn the most important dance of your life, but you did and it has really paid off! Now your wedding dance is the one thing that your friends and family won’t stop talking about. Who knew?

There are so many options now that you are ready to begin your journey into dance for your wedding day. When it comes to the perfect first dance for you and your sweetie, there are a few things to keep in mind…

1. Start With The Song: To really be inspired to learn to dance and to give your first dance your all, pick a few songs that really mean something to you. Do you like Country music, Big Band, Rock and Roll? What type of music speaks to you? A song that inspires you will show through in your dance and help you to give the best show possible for your guests.

2. Find A Local Dance Studio: There’s no need on your end to try and determine what dance style, be it Country Western or Salsa, that may fit with your song options because you can bring your song choices to a Wedding Dance Consultation at a nearby dance studio. A professional dance instructor will help guide you through which dance songs are best and what dances are good for the vision you have for your first dance. (East Valley Phoenix residents can come visit us at Dance FX Studios in Mesa, AZ. :))

3. Start Earlier Than You Think You Should: Make sure to set up a consultation at least 3-4 months prior to your wedding so that you can really begin honing in on your dancing skills and getting rid of the jitters before you have to hit the dance floor on your wedding day. Social partner dancing is new to most adults who have never taken ballroom dance lessons before and, since no one is born knowing how to dance, it can take a little time to master. Most brides and grooms want to look as natural as possible so planning and plenty of practice time is a must!

Say goodbye to the prom sway and hello to the dance of your dreams with wedding dance lessons from us at Dance FX Studios. We would love to help you Swing dance with the best of them, or put on a tantalizing Tango dance number in one of our Rock Your Reception dances! Or, we can go subtle and elegant in your first dance with a Foxtrot to your favorite Sinatra tune. Either way, you will look spectacular on the dance floor with help from us! To set up your wedding dance consultation, contact us by phone or email. We are thrilled to be a part of your big day!
