Need Help Choosing the Perfect First Dance Song?
Choosing a song for your first dance as husband and wife is an important task that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Making sure you have the right song to show off your skills takes just as much planning and preparation as the ceremony itself! When looking through your music collection, here are a few tips and guidelines to follow.
1. Choose a song that has meaning to you both. Eventhough it’s known as the bride’s day, the groom should get a say too! After all, he is the leader on the dance floor ladies. We want our groom to be comfortable and confident so he can properly show off his new bride. The more the groom enjoys the music he is dancing to, the more inclined he will be to let loose and have fun!
2. Choose a song that shows off your personalities! The whole purpose of a wedding is to share your love of each other with everyone around you. When you bring forth what makes you shine and smile, your guests will feel your love and energy come out and a memorable moment is created!
3. Be mindful of the speed of your music. Choosing something that’s faster can work against you especially if you’ve had minimal dance experience or are on a short time schedule. We want you to look your absolute best when you are under the spotlight. Ask your instructor for their best recommendation if you are not sure. If you have the time in your schedule to take lessons and practice a few times a week, the possibilities are endless to make your dance look as special and exciting as you want!
4. And last but certainly not least, if having a memorable first dance is something that’s important to you, make the time to do it. Dance is a process that takes time and patience. Try not to wait until the week or even the month before the wedding to start taking lessons and putting your dance together. Give yourelves at least 4-6 months to get going and you’ll be happy you didn’t wait till the last minute because you will both be shining with confiedence!
