What You May Not Know About Your Wedding Day

wedding couple in ArizonaAhhh…weddings. They’re so romantic, so exciting, so.much.work! Forget about those Pinterest centerpieces you plan to make, interviewing DJ’s and sampling your perfect cake. These days, there’s more planning than ever when it comes to those finishing touches that will make your dream day a true success.  One of those finishing touches that will ensure a wedding “home run” is the perfect first dance, created just for you. Now, dance lessons for your wedding will surely help you to shine on the dance floor, but getting ready for your wedding with private dance lessons will be valuable for you as a couple on many levels.

First, wedding planning is stressful! When you invest in each other with couple’s dance lessons, you are creating special time together to let go of those wedding worries that keep you up at night. Wouldn’t that be a great way to balance out those tough days? We think so. An outlet like social dancing is going to help your mind escape from all that you have to do in the upcoming weeks and months and re-direct the focus to what matters most, your love for each other.

And what better way to celebrate that love with a customized first dance that will forever be etched in the memories of your friends and family. From the simply stated to the completely unexpected wedding dance, our Arizona dance studio (if you happen to live here in AZ) can personalize a dance that will reflect both of your styles, with details that speak to who you are as a couple. For example, if you’re that out-of-the-box type of couple, we would love to show you a cool Country Two Step dance, or how to Swing dance. Both of these popular dance styles are crowd-pleasing, fun to watch and useful far beyond your wedding.

Speaking of that, those dance lessons you took in preparation for your wedding will keep connected for years to come. Long after you say, “I do!”, you can use social dancing as a hobby to stay active and keep the flame burning. Why resort to date nights at the movies when you can go Country dancing with friends, or each other, as a fun way to spend your time?

With that perfect first dance, you can expect your guests to be talking about your wedding day for months to come. In fact, you may even inspire them to want to look amazing on the dance floor for their first dance too! Either way, friends and family will certainly be impressed with what you have taken the time to learn in your Wedding Dance Lessons. And why shouldn’t they? You took the time to not only help yourselves get through your wedding planning stresses, but to give them a special and unique memory of you as a married couple dancing your first dance together. That first dance will be one that everyone will remember forever so why not give your guests a special treat while treating yourselves to a fun new hobby that you can use time and again?!

Here are a few more reasons to have a blast and enjoy dancing all the way up to your wedding!

Dancing re-creates your first date. Get nostalgic, remember when you and your future spouse first met or had your first date? Chances are great music and dancing were a part of it. Maybe the song you heard that night is the song you are picking for your “first dance”? Reminisce about the fun you had and maybe the even the awkward or funny moments while you learn a choreographed wedding dance that is tailor-made just for you.

Dancing keeps you active! Activity releases stress and won’t it be nice to get in better shape for your wedding? Why push yourself to try boring workouts at the gym when you can Country Two Step or Swing dance your way into a more fit and trim you-just in time for your wedding! Dancing is not only exciting, it creates the target heart rate for burning fat! Beyond that, it is also a wonderful cardio work out. Plus all the dance practice exploring dances like Salsa or the ballroom Foxtrot will give you stamina and energy to party all night at your wedding! These are all huge perks gained by learning to dance!

Wedding dance lessons are romantic, even if you both think you have two left feet. It’s important to give your dance instructor a glimpse of your relationship so that we can help create a wedding dance that expresses your personalities.  Learning to dance does not have to be a serious matter, so remember to laugh often. Most couples find that learning to dance improves their relationships by adding more romance and spending quality time together. It makes sense that dancing together will replace even the most stressful day with romance. Once you hold onto each other and stare into each other’s eyes, all bothersome wedding woes will simply fall away. 🙂

Turn your wedding dance lessons into your date night. Schedule your dance lessons at times when the two of you can head over to a restaurant and/or see a movie after. Make it date night! Take all the romance and connection gained during your lesson and bring it with you to the next event. The best part of dance lesson dates during busy wedding planning is the two of you learning a romantic skill together will set the tone of your relationship for the rest of your years together.

Begin your exciting journey into dance with Dance FX Studios’ Wedding Dance Consultation. We will help you to shine on your wedding day and beyond for any special event that comes your way.

Man teaching girl how to dance

Make Your Wedding One to Remember with A Dance Class!

Man teaching girl how to dance in Mesa, AZThemed weddings and unique weddings have become all the rage this season. It’s practically a competition to see who can have the most one-of-a-kind wedding in the world. From an outrageous first wedding dance to a special destination wedding, couples are getting more and more creative when it comes to giving their guests a day to remember.

How can you take your wedding to the next level without breaking the bank? For a fun and interactive treat for your friends and family, offer a group dance lesson to your guests! Not only is it a totally cool and different activity that everyone can participate in, but it can make your wedding better on so many levels! Here are just a few ways:

Have a Wedding Theme? Enhance It!

Country themed weddings have been popular for years. If your dream wedding is filled with Cowboy boots and hay bales, why not kick it up a notch with a Country Two Step or Country Swing dance lesson? It’ll help your guests have a clue on the dance floor of what to do when their favorite Country tunes come on during the reception. If you’re having a Latin themed wedding, think about a Salsa or Bachata dancing lesson. Nothing will compliment a salsa bar quite like a salsa dance lesson.

Guaranteed Participation on the Dance Floor.

Every wedding has that group of people who don’t feel up to joining in on the dance floor. To be completely honest, most of those wall flowers don’t get on the floor because they don’t want to make a fool of themselves or look silly. Providing a group dance class can help ease some of those worries by teaching everyone a few basic steps to a popular dance style. It may not get everyone up on every song, but some of the people you least expect to dance might be able to build up the courage after a class.

Break the Ice!

Weddings can be difficult sometimes when relatives haven’t met yet. A lot of dance instructors use classes as an opportunity to allow people to dance with multiple partners. This lets both sides of the newly formed family mingle with ease. After the class, they’re more likely to ask the partners they learned with to dance with a little confidence under their belts, so your entire family can continue to get to know one another throughout the whole of the night.

It’s the Wedding Favor That Keeps on Giving.

Most gifts from the bride and groom to their wedding guests involve trinkets with the bridal couples’ initials and/or picture. The picture frames, candles, bookmarks, etc. tend to end up in the trash eventually. Giving your guests a dance lesson isn’t tangible, but it’s something they can (and hopefully will!) use after your wedding day. If anything, it’s definitely a wedding favor they will never forget.

Country Wedding

Ways to Enhance Your Country Wedding

Country Wedding | Two-Step Lessons | DanceFx StudiosSo you’re having a Country themed wedding. You’re already planning on the Cowboy boots and a full Country Western playlist, but how can you really get into the Country party mode? Country themed weddings are incredibly popular in Arizona, so we’ve put together a list of a few fun ideas to play up your big day!

Centerpieces

Centerpieces are a great way to tap into your wedding’s theme without being too overpowering. If you’re planning on having floral arrangements on each table, try adding a little hay to each piece. This is a playful way of bringing in your Country vibe while maintaining a bit of class. Or, you can introduce your theme into cool planters. Miniature barrels, branded wood boxes, boots, mason jars, watering cans – the options are endless! If you’re feeling adventurous, barbed wire makes a great addition to any centerpiece.

Decor

Aside from the centerpieces, there are plenty of places to let your Country style shine through. Old whiskey or wine barrels make the best tables for that authentic Country flair. They can either be mini-tables on their own, or you can use 2 or 3 to make the base of a homemade table. If barrels aren’t your thing, consider making use of old wooden picnic tables and benches with throw pillows. You can keep the rustic feel with the tables, while adding an element of comfort of pillows for your guests.

Favors

I doubt you want to hand out free boots to everyone who walks in, but you can still stick with your theme when it comes to your wedding party favors. Make homemade jam for all of your guests. It seems like a daunting task, but it’s pretty manageable if you do it in bulk. If you aren’t interested in making your favor, consider giving out small plants. It fits the outdoorsy theme while giving your guests a new house plant!

S’mores bar

Who doesn’t love a good s’more? Country weddings are all about the great outdoors, and nothing says outdoor life quite like a s’more. Stock up on graham crackers, marshmallows, and lots of chocolate so your guests can make these sweet treats at your receptions! You can either have a huge bon fire for people to gather around, or build your own fire bar. Just fill a case with glass or stone pebbles, then place cans of sterno in a line in the pebbles. That way you can enjoy these delicious treats inside or outside!

First Dance

A first wedding dance can be pretty scary, especially if you don’t want to look silly by just doing the 8th-grade sway. Make your first dance something upbeat by learning to Country Two-Step or Country Swing. Then, your first dance can be a part of your wedding to look forward to, not dread. You’ll look good, feel good, and have an awesome new dance to take with you the rest of your life. If you’re in the Phoenix area, check out Dance FX Studios in the East Valley when you decide it’s time to learn. As the only non-competition studio in Arizona, we focus solely on teaching you dances that ou can actually use in the real world. We’ve also choreographed thousands of wedding dances, so we definitely know what we’re doing. Whether you want to Two-Step, Swing, or go for a slow Nite Club, we will help you to shine at your Country themed wedding!

couple two step dancing

Make Your Wedding Day Investments Last!

couple two step dancing in Mesa, AZLet’s be honest – Weddings can be expensive. The worst part is that, at the end of the day, the majority of your wedding supplies end up in the trash! Make your wedding work for you with these helpful ideas:

1. Pick out shoes that you’ll want to wear again

How often do you see yourself wearing white satin pumps or crystal encrusted stilettos after walking down the aisle in them? Probably not that often. Instead, why not opt for a more versatile shoe choice? Lots of brides are going the more casual direction with Vans, Toms, Converse, and the like. Not only does it bring a bit of individuality into their outfit, but you know you’ll wear those shoes again. If you want to keep it classy, you can still do that with a pretty pair of ballet flats or a fun blue heel! Just keep true to your own style and don’t let those shoes go to waste!

2. Pick the color – not the dress

When choosing bridesmaids dresses, try going with a color scheme instead of a specific dress. Not every body type will look great in the same style, so give them a color and let your ladies go wild! They can each choose a flattering dress that they’d love to wear out on the town – not purchase a dress that is going to sit in the back of their closet for the next 7 years. Bridesmaids dresses don’t have to scream “BRIDESMAID DRESS!” if you don’t want them to.

3. Hem your wedding dress
If you decide to go with a simpler, flowy dress, consider hemming it after your big day. Some wedding dresses these days make beautiful day dresses without the train. Instead of putting it in storage, hem your dress just above the knee for a flirty transformation!
4. Throw birdseed instead of rice
You won’t necessarily get money back for this switch, but the birds will thank you. Plus, no one has to worry about cleanup – the birds have it taken care of.
5. Give out useful favors
As much as you want to give out mini frames or coasters with your names on them, 90% of them will end up in the trash. Try giving out favors that your guests will use! Think along the lines of candles, edibles, water bottles, etc. What would you want to receive at your friends wedding? A single coaster with their faces on it or a bag full of cookies and candy? I know which one I’d pick.
6. Learn to dance – for real
Everyone wants their first dance to be special, so make it work for you! Instead of settling for the 8th-grade sway, get help from a professional. This is the perfect opportunity for you and your loved one to learn how to actually dance with each other – which you can do for the rest of your lives. Not many things from your wedding day, aside from your rings and your marriage, will actually last that long! Now, this doesn’t mean go pay someone to give you choreography so you can do one dance to one song forever and ever. This means find a studio that teaches actual lead and follow so you can dance to ANY song forever and ever. If you want to have them put a dance together for you as well, by all means, go for it. But make sure you’re learning real technique or it’s a waste of your time.
If you happen to live in Phoenix, Arizona, we can help you with our final suggestion by teaching you and your sweetie how to dance! Learning fun and cool dances from the Salsa to Swing dancing to the Country Two Step makes for great date nights post-marriage to keep the flame ignited, in addition to an exciting and unexpected wedding dance! You will have a hobby as a couple that you can take anywhere, from your honeymoon to your living room. Check us out at Dance FX Studios in Mesa, Arizona for social dance lessons and wedding dance lessons. Invest in a skill that will keep you holding each other tight for years to come!
