Phoenix Swing dancing

An Introductory Dance Lesson at Dance FX Studios!

Phoenix Swing dancingYou signed up for our New Student Offer and now you are a bit nervous maybe or wondering what to expect when you come into our social dance studio for adults here in the Phoenix East Valley for your first lesson.  My recommendation, get excited! It’s okay to come over a bit early and look around. There are lots of places to sit around the dance floor, enjoy a beverage and soak up the atmosphere of other students taking private Country, Swing or Latin lessons.

Our private dance lessons run every hour and, when it’s your time, an instructor will come over and introduce themselves. She or he will immediately put you at ease and explain what happens next. We understand learning something that may be outside of your comfort zone is a little scary so we do everything we can to make it fun. We are all here to welcome you to our school and help you to accomplish a new skill by working smart and not hard.

Here is what to expect during your Beginner Country, Latin or Swing dance lesson:

You lesson begins with a meet and greet. We want to know why you decided to take dance lessons and what your interests are. Maybe you have an event coming up or maybe you just moved here and want to meet people by going out social dancing in local Latin dance clubs or Country bars. We have students who are here for all kinds of reasons: they want to meet a guy or gal, they want to lose weight, increase social confidence, be a superstar dance king or queen, impress their friends or even spice up a stagnant relationship! There are thousands of good reasons for learning to dance!

You pick the dances you love. Here in Arizona people often want to learn Country dances like the Country Two Step, Country Swing, Country Waltz, East Coast Swing or West Coast Swing. The southwest is also known for Latin Styles of dancing like: Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cha Cha or Bolero. If you’re really looking to make a statement, come and learn our signature dance, the sassy Argentine Tango! Again, you are a beginner, so we suggest that you pick just two to four dances to start with! That’s easy and exciting, right?

Think of your dance lesson like learning a new language, we start with the ABC’s. You can relax knowing that we would never expect you to walk into your first lesson and make sentences or have conversations, on the dance floor, that is! Dance FX Studios has a one-of-a-kind system of teaching social dancing that will start you on your journey towards understanding the language of dance. Your first private dance lesson will focus on the very basics: core elements of dancing and true lead and follow. If that sounds hard, it isn’t. Even if you have never danced before! the Dance FX Studios instructors will make your first lesson so effortless that you will be confident our method will help you to reach your goal of learning to social dance!

Let us help you get started now by taking advantage of your New Student Introductory Offer. It is only $25 total for two 30-minute private dance lessons, which is usually combined into a full one hour lesson! Dancing…So Much More Than Just “Steps”

You did it! You began the new year by fulfilling a resolution that took you 10 + years to get up the nerve to do. You went for it and signed up for Country dance lessons for you and your wife. How exciting! How glamorous! How…SCARY! Now, literally steps closer to the dance floor than you have ever found yourself since prom 20 years ago, there is still one thing holding you back… that dreaded first step on to a “real” dance floor. No longer in the presence of your instructor at your local dance studio, it hits you that, in order to enjoy dancing, you must go out and use it.  Suddenly, the tapes that have been floating around in your brain all of these years are being put to the test. “What am I doing out in this Country bar? I can’t dance!”, you say to yourself. Even with 30 plus hours of dance lessons under your belt in the last few months, you have the biggest hurdle in front of you yet…YOU! The fear of failure, looking stupid or drawing a blank is right in front of you and the pressure is on.

Thanks to Nike, telling yourself to “Just do it!” does build some confidence. What most people don’t realize, though, is that becoming a great social dancer is more than just knowing your steps. Getting over that psychological hump of not feeling “good enough” is a process that everyone goes through when they are first learning how to dance.

If you can relate to this guy and his story, you are not alone. Inadequacy is one of the biggest hold back’s of couples and singles giving dance lessons a try. He wants to please her, she wants to feel sexy and elegant, and the expectations can cause a lot of pressure. Fortunately, gone are the days where many viewed dances like Two Step, Salsa or Swing as feminine. But now, guys are stuck with not feeling “man enough” on the dance floor. So much pressure! Here are a few things to keep in mind when that time comes for you to get out and dance for the first time:

1. Everyone has a “first time”. It’s best to get over yours now so that you can say you did it and move forward from there. Hey, with enough positive inner dialogue, you may even remind yourself of how much you actually DO know about dancing so that you can relax and give it a try. Who knows, you may even do better than you thought on the dance floor!

2. No one is watching you. It’s more than possible that others may be having their “first time” too and they may be so wrapped up in what they are doing, that they don’t even notice you. Everyone else will be busy either showing themselves off or figuring out this whole dancing thing too.

3. Only practice will make perfect. If you never get out on an actual dance floor, how will you be able to apply what you have learned in your dance lessons? Make the most of your investment in each other by taking that scary leap and trying out what you know. Worst case scenario: You forget everything. So what, you got out your initial jitters and you will live to dance another day.

In short, while dancing can be intimidating, it would be so much less fun if you didn’t do it. You would be missing out on one of life’s greatest joys. Push through the pain and the rewards will be met on the other side. Don’t believe us? Ask some of our students how they feel about dancing.

We at Dance FX Studios in Mesa, Arizona specialize in creating social dancers who can enjoy any “real-world” dance scene. Located in Mesa, Arizona, we offer private dance lessons and group dance classes to singles and couples. YOU can enjoy all of the amazing benefits of knowing how to dance for yourself. Give Salsa, Swing, Country Two Step or Tango dance lessons a chance and discover a hobby that you can use for a lifetime.

Learn to Country Two Step With Style in AZ!

Country Swing Mesa AZHave you wanted to learn some dance moves, but do not know where to start? What about the fun and easy style of Country Western dancing? You may be thinking, well where am I ever going to use Country Western dancing, but there are many places and events where you can show off your moves, especially in the southwest.

The southwest is known for being a place to find and do Country Western dancing. It is almost a rite of passage to learn how to Country Western dance if you grew up in the southwest. Country music can be found playing at weddings, bars, and even night clubs, giving you an array of times and places to demonstrate your abilities. There are also so many variations and types of Country Western dances making it highly unlikely that you will ever become bored of it.

Some types of Country Western dancing are Country Two Step, Country Swing, and Country Waltz. The Two-Step is a partner dance that is progressive, moving counterclockwise around the dance floor. Since there are so many variations of the Two-Step, there is not one specific one that is the correct way of doing the Two-Step. Another progressive Country Western dance is the Country Waltz. The Country Waltz has a more relaxed posture and frame and does not have the exaggerated hand and arm gestures of other Waltz styles.

If you are interested in learning how to Country Dance, you can try our Introductory Offer of a one hour-long private Country Western dance class. Dance lessons are available by appointment Monday through Friday from 12 to 8PM and on Saturdays from 12 to 4PM. Or try our group dance Country Two Step classes, which start March 8th at 7PM.
