Dance and Romance…
Have you ever thought of sprucing up your romantic relationship with your spouse or loved one? In a busy world, couples may forget to rekindle their love and strengthen their relationships. A unique way to bond with your partner is through ballroom dancing. Giving a couple a common interest, such as ballroom dancing, can help to build a stronger relationship or even can assist in repairing one. Ballroom dancing allows a couple to work on various things, such as cooperation, communication, romance, emotional connection, and individual growth.
Since ballroom dancing has a “leader” and a “follower” roles, the couple must rely on one another and cooperate with each other as they move across the dance floor. The leader needs to be able to control the dance and effectively signal to the follower what the next move will be. On the other hand, the follower has to be able and willing to interpret those signals and carry through with the next move.
Ballroom dancing is a give-and-take relationship from both partners, whose success relies not only upon the cooperation, but the communication between the couple as well. By communication, it does not mean verbal, but non-verbal communication. Partners will be more aware of each other’s non-verbal signals and messages, as you do not verbally tell your partner what you will be doing next. This ability to talk and listen non-verbally also translates into everyday life, more specifically your relationship. So much of communication is non-verbal and being able to effectively understand your partner’s non-verbal cues will help tremendously in strengthening that relationship.
Not only does ballroom dancing give you a deeper understanding of one another and your relationship, it allows you to spend more time with one another through a mutual interest. Through the use of ballroom dancing you can have a deeper understanding of yourself, your partner, and your relationship with one another. So why not spice up your love life with some lessons in ballroom dancing?
