By this stage in your life you probably have your entire wedding envisioned and can’t wait to make it come to life. One of the biggest parts of your wedding is the first dance as a married couple. Here’s a bit of advice to help you prepare for your consultation.
One thing that really helps us out a lot when it comes to creating the most amazing first dance for you is when we receive a list of songs that you love. We will want to know what moves you about the song so that we can make your wedding dance truly special. Our incredible wedding consultants will determine which style of dance we will teach you based on your favorite song, so choosing what you like in advance is key. If you are a couple who wants something simple and sweet, we can do something elegant and easy for you to learn. If you are a couple who enjoys shock factor every once in a while, we can “Rock Your Reception” with a surprise first dance that will blow your friends and family out of the water. Either way you go, your audience will be talking about your first dance for months on end.
Another great thing to bring in for your Wedding Dance Consultation is information on what you plan to be wearing. If your wedding dress is something that is tight fitting or uncomfortable to dance in, you may want to consider changing…at least for your first dance. When we know what you will be wearing, we can play around with the choreography and make sure that every move is do-able in your dream dress. As for the groom, once we know if you’ll be in a suit or a tux, we can best direct you on whether or not to keep your jacket on. It can be extremely difficult to make a turn look smooth while your arms are constricted in a tux jacket. A tip for our brides and grooms: Ladies, please avoid a sky high heel. It is almost impossible to feel comfortable as a beginner dancer while wearing stilettos or platform shoes. Guys, consider investing in a professional dance shoe. They will look exactly like a regular dress shoe, but they will be much more comfortable and easier to dance in (and you can use your dancing shoes in the future when the two of you go out dancing). 😉
The last important piece of information that can really help us out is anything you can tell us about your venue. We want to know about the size of your dance floor, where your guests will be sitting, and everything else in regards to your layout of the room. This is important because we don’t want you doing your wedding dance and realize half way through that not everyone can see you. Your loved want to see your beautiful faces.
Will you be having a band, a deejay, or both? Once we edit your wedding dance music to make it fit your first dance perfectly, we want to make sure that you will have somewhere to play it. We will always email a copy of your music to your deejay for you, as well as get you a copy so that you will have practice music while you are learning your special dance.
