Country Dance All Summer Long!

Country Western dancing in ArizonaDoes Country music invoke happy thoughts? Do you find yourself tapping your feet, smiling, and maybe even singing along to your favorite tunes (even if it’s in the shower)? Build upon those feelings by learning to Country dance! Dance FX Studios in Mesa, Arizona has been teaching social dance lessons to singles and couples in the Phoenix valley for 15 years. Many students come in specifically for Country dances! There are three popular styles of dances done to Country music here in Arizona that you MUST know 🙂 : Country Two-Step, Country Swing, and Country Waltz.

Country Two-Step is one of the most common dances in the bars. It is a fun and easy dance with twirls, twists, and turns! There are two varieties of Country Two Step dancing: Progressive or Rhythm. The only difference between the two is that one travels (Progressive) and the other is mostly stationary (Rhythm). Both are great to know in preparation for going out dancing, however, in Arizona, Rhythm Two-Step is done almost exclusively out in the bars because it is effective for crowded dance floors.

Country Swing was recently recognized as one of the many Swing dance variations! It does have certain guidelines, which includes cool turns, spins, and combinations, that help keep you on time with the music while having fun on the floor. It is also adaptable to music other than Country which makes it great to use at either a wedding or a bar! This dance is higher energy, fun, bouncy and often results in many smiles!

Country Waltz is a progressive dance that has a more relaxed look to it than other Waltz styles. In the Country Waltz, the frame, hand and arm gestures are not exaggerated. This is a great dance to have in your back pocket for slow Country songs. Remember to keep that romance alive!

Cowboy boots are always welcome, but not necessary. In the end, we want YOU to have a great time! Dancing can be a relaxing, fun, new hobby for you to partake in whether you are dancing with a partner or just solo. This is a skill you’ll have for the rest of your life!

“Giddy Up” For A Night With Two-bit Shotgun

Do you love Country music as much as we do? Come listen to one of Phoenix valley’s top Country Western bands play right here at Dance FX Studios in Mesa, Arizona next Saturday evening, April 13th! That’s right, Two-bit Shotgun are making their third appearance at Dance FX Studios after two successful nights of Country dancing and fun!

How does the night work for those of you who have not been to one of our dance parties with live music? We will kick off next Saturday night, April 13th, 2013 with a beginner two step class so that everyone can learn the basics to one of Country’s most popular dance styles. In the group two step class for beginners, you will learn a turn or two plus, and most importantly, how to navigate around a crowded dance floor with ease. This concept is our main focus at Dance FX Studios as social dancing in Arizona is what we are known for and what we do best! Get some great pointers on how to lead and follow the two step as well as how to hold your dance partner in a proper dance frame. What you won’t learn (for you die hard AZ Country dancers) is flips and tricks on the night of our Country dance party. We at Dance FX Studios want to show you how to be safe Country dancers with exciting moves that will make your partner comfortable and relaxed.

After our two step class for beginners, you will enjoy amazing music by Two-bit Shotgun! Two-bit Shotgun plays around the Phoenix valley as well as out of state on the southwest. They play a lot of crossover Country rock as well as a few oldies for those that enjoy traditional Country music. We have found them to be the perfect choice for our Country dances as they play tons of Country swing, Country two step, nite club two step, Country waltz and West Coast swings. Two-bit Shotgun are a great fusion of old and new and they seem to appeal to all ages.

Dance FX Studios’ Country dance party is from 8- 11 pm. We will be offering light snacks (chips, veggies etc.) and desserts for you to enjoy in between dances. Cover charge for this event is $15 per person for advanced tickets and $20 at the door per person. Tickets can be purchased by phone, on our website or in person for your convenience. As always, our live music events are open to the public. Bring your friends and meet new ones as you listen to great music and dance!

First Dance Night Out, A Success!

Congratulations to all of the brave students who joined the Dance FX Studios’ staff for a night out dancing at Cactus Moon Bar on Wednesday night. For some, this was their first night dancing outside of the studio, taking the first (albeit intimidating) step towards becoming a great social dancer. Everyone who joined us had great success in trying their Country dance moves out in the real world and the staff is so proud of you!

Nights out dancing with Dance FX Studios are back again and you too can benefit from participating. Prior to taking our students out to a variety of dance venues around the Phoenix metro area, we start our nights out with a dance class at the studio. This gives us a chance for last-minute reminders on dance etiquette and more key tips on how to transfer one’s dancing out to any social dance floor with ease. After the class, we all meet at a local venue and dance together for several hours.

Country dancing at Cactus Moon last Wednesday gave Dance FX Studios’ Country dancers a true experience of how fun it is to actually go dancing with the added benefit of having their instructors by their side. Throughout the night, the Dance FX Studios’ staff danced with everyone and gave hands-on instruction in a live dance setting.

If you have been wanting to go Country or Latin dancing, but don’t know others with the same interest, you now have a new group of friends who would love for you to join in on the fun. Dance FX Studios will be hosting nights out twice a month, one Country dance night and one Latin dance night. Meet new friends and experience dancing with Dance FX Studios’ staff and students by signing up for our next night out today. The fee for joining us for the evening is just $25 per person and includes a dance class, drink ticket at the venue and dancing for 2 hours.

Dance FX Studios will be heading over to Dave and Buster’s on Wednesday, November 28th, 2012. We will be holding a salsa and bachata class to kick off the night at 8 pm. Reservations are required to join us so don’t wait to get involved.

Did you know that Dance FX Studios offers in-house dance nights too? Twice a month, we have dance parties where we play all kinds of music from swing to Country, Latin, Argentine tango and even a bit of Hip Hop. In fact, you can join us for our Winter Wonderland in-house dance party coming up on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 8 pm. Some of our events even include live music by AMAZING local bands like Come Back Buddy, Latin XS and Two-Bit Shotgun.

What are YOU doing this coming Wednesday night? Join us for a night out with the Dance FX Studios staff at Cactus Moon on Wednesday night! If you would like to practice your Country dancing with the pros, get signed up now for an evening of Country two step, swing, nite club 2 step and more!

Country dancing is so much more fun when you know what you’re doing. Start this Wednesday evening off at Dance FX Studios at 8 pm for a Country swing and two step dance class. Then, head over with our group for two hours of real-world dancing at Cactus Moon in Mesa, Arizona. Dance FX Studios is just 10 minutes from Cactus Moon in Mesa, AZ too so forget about driving far to get out and dance!

With many people already signed up to join us, our first Country dance night is going to be a blast! Here are more details on the specifics:

Country Dance Night at Cactus Moon

Included is: A Country dance class, a drink ticket to the bar (for alcohol or soda) and dancing at Cactus Moon with the Dance FX instructors! Get practical tips for how to dance on a crowded floor, what to do when you don’t know what to do and how to get comfortable on any social dance floor from one of our pros. While our evening ends at 11 pm, our guests can stay with new friends and continue dancing into the night! This is a wonderful opportunity to meet new people and baby step your way out into new social dance situations.

You say you don’t Country dance? That’s OK, just sign up now for our Latin dance night on Wednesday, November 28! Dance FX Studios will be hosting our Latin dance night at Dave and Busters in Tempe, AZ on the 28th with the same format as the Latin dance night.
