Why We Recommend Private Dancing Lessons…

One-on-one dance instruction is fastest way to becoming a great social dancer. Each private dance lesson is customized around your learning style (auditory, visual etc.) as well as your rate of learning so that you can reach your dance goals in the shortest amount of time possible. Whereas group classes offer more of an overview, private lessons will allow for us to go deeper into the material, giving you the tools to be a successful dancer. Unlike in group classes, your instructor will tailor each private dance lesson just for you.

Private dance lessons save you money. While you will be investing more up front, in the long run private lessons are the key to grasping and retaining your dancing. Think of learning how to speak a foreign language. If you went to class only once a week to learn Chinese, it would take you a lot longer to become fluent in the language. The same is true for dancing. Your muscles and your mind will “remember” the material with lessons that are kept close together. Eventually you can move on to maintaining the solid techniques that you have learned in any of our group dance classes.

Individual lessons are a great way to connect with your dance partner. Spend time dancing together and developing a partnership on a deeper level with private instruction. No partner? You are just as lucky because with one-on-one lessons, you can dance directly with your instructor. He/she will whip you into shape in no time and prepare you to have a great connection with anyone!

Private dance lessons are available 6 days/week by appointment. Instead of waiting a week in between group classes, you can come in several times a week and meet directly with your instructor to solidify your steps and techniques.

In private dance classes, you can learn several dances within one hour. With our easy-to-understand concepts and teaching techniques, you will soon discover that it is simple to learn multiple dances at the same time.

Beyond The Introductory Offer…

To become a comfortable social dancer, private dancing lessons are the key! One-on-one time will allow us to focus on your specific needs and goals, helping you to get out on the dance floor that much quicker. Here’s what Dance FX Studios’ offers beyond our introductory lesson.


Dance FX Studios’ Foundation Program: After your introductory dance lesson, we’ll move you on to hour-long lessons where we begin laying a solid foundation in up to four social dances of your choice. This is where the fun really begins! Private hour-long foundation programs start at 5 hours and are tailored just for you.

Dance FX Studios’ General Studies Program: Once your foundation is laid, we will customize a program for you that takes you from walking through the moves to becoming a great social dancer! You will be dancing on time with the music as well as be able to identify what dances to do to various genres of music. Our step by step process (no pun intended! ) will help you to see how much FUN it is to learn to dance!

Dance FX Studios’ Continuing Education Programs: Continuing education students are able to dance socially with confidence and ease on small, crowded dance floors. They are combining elements together and working on styling and more advanced concepts and techniques as they make dancing a life-long hobby that can be used anywhere!

Private Dance Lesson Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear on my dance lessons?

We always recommend wearing comfortable clothing on your private dance lessons so that you are not restricted in your movement. For shoes, please wear what you would wear out socially on your dance lessons. For example, if you are interested in Country Western dancing, cowboy boots would be your best bet. For Salsa dancing lessons, a pair of heels with a strap around the ankle for ladies and leather bottom shoes for guys are recommended.

How often should I come in for my dancing lessons?

Your progress is dependent upon how often you are able to come in for your lessons. Keeping your lessons close together, especially while your foundation is being laid, will ensure the best results in the shortest amount of time. Several times a week would be appropriate for beginners.

How long is each private lesson?

Our hour-long private dancing lessons include 50 minutes of dancing and 5 minutes of warming up.

I don’t have a dance parter. Can I still take private dance lessons?

You certainly can! You will dance directly with an instructor which dramatically boosts your rate of learning.

Do you have more than one location?

No. We are, however, centrally located amongst all of the major East Valley cities. Dance FX Studios is on the border of both Tempe and Chandler in Mesa. We are just off the 101 highway just minutes from Scottsdale.

Should I start with private lessons or group dance classes?

Private dancing lessons are the fastest way to become a competent dancer. You will have healthy dance habits with tips and details that can only be given through one-on-one instruction. Once your foundation is laid and you begin to become a proficient dancer, group classes are great supplements to private lessons for picking up new moves and dancing with a variety of partners.

How much are private lessons at Dance FX Studios?

Our Introductory Offer is $40 to get started. From there, private hour-long foundation lessons start at $59 per hour. A breakdown of our private lesson rates is shown to our students at the end of their first private dance lesson.
